almera n15 rumbling sound

i have this rumbling sound coming from the front of the car kind of rhymtic.the faster i go the louder it gets ive jacked up the car and the drivers side wheel bearing has a good bit of play. would this be it? gearbox seems ok same noise coasting with the cluch in at 50 or driving normally the noise seems to be there all the time over 20mph.

hopefully it is changing the whole hub tomoro. had wheel bearings go in the past but never sounded as bad as this. im freaked it might be the gearbox after hearing horror stories

I have the same sort of problem. One garage said it was the ball joints. Then a friends dad (who is a machanic) said it was the driveshafts. I'm getting the driveshafts changed, hoping this will cure the problem. Good luck with yours.

got it sorted today the wheel bearing was in 5 different pieces when i took off the hub the ball bearings all over the driveway. got a new complete hub dirt cheap from the scrappies so worked out cheep to fix.popping them 2 balljoints was a balls.any idea of how much to torque the driveshaft nut?i tightened it as i could but just want it torqued to be sure.i have access to an air gun if that would tighten the nut enough:eek:
