almera problems

hi there im new to here. Iv got me mates almera 1.8 e auto and its smoking like hell. It has been off the road for 2.5 yrs and iv just been trying to get it back on road again for him. It starts up runs normal then when ya give it some revs it just kills it self any ideas what it could be??

Could be a number of things.
Mainly sensors.
I'd be checking/replacing each sensor, process of elimination and that.
First thing's first, get some fresh fuel, and some fresh plugs in there.
Then check:
Mass Airflow Sensor
Lambda Sensor
Throttle Position Sensor
Could be others too but I'm no expert on N16's..

Smoking like hell, lacking power? Could be bustt headgasket mate, perhaps combined with a slipped tooth on the timming chain.

Have any ondash lights come up?

na no dash lights on. drained the fuel and put new in but still the same. will get the sensors checked the morra at me mates garage. you recon the oil seals could have rotted with it being off road for so long?

Yeah I wasn't bein funny mate, just saying. More likely a sensor's given up the ghost or something.
Very possibly valve stem oil seals could have perished? But thats a very random guess TBH, problem diagnosis isn't a simple task.

I know depsosites of crap can build up if stored, leighs car when i first got smoked alot he had to take it out for a good drive before i got it still smoked. 5000rpm motorway blast in 5th with some STD 10000 Mile cleaner smoke was gone and ohh it passed mot emmosions with flying colours few days later

Try some of that in a full tank of petrol, and go for a motorway blip

it wont even let me move the piece of shite. just keeps cutting it self out might just hoy a match on it lol. Its only got 1500 on the clock so its basically brand new still. coz its an automatic could the clutch be buggered?

Perhaps give it show revs to keep it from stalling/cutting out & help clean out shite, then try engage to move forwards

Fingers crossed no lights, just slightly clogged engine ancilleries. Could be worse tho but hope for the best is my favorite opption

Have you changed the fuel filter?

Could be some sediment in it, that moves & blocks it when you give it some revs.

Does it tick over ok or is it `lumpy`?

Now this may sound random, but jack the front wheels off the ground, then put it in drive & take it through all the gears, if it`s ok, could just have been the torque converter needed freeing up, if it still dies, I`d start looking at sensors (1st being the Maf, take it off & give it a good clean/blast with carb cleaner). :)

Please keep us updated. :)

its white smoke. aint got the blue tinge to it at all. Gonna get new filter tomorrow.

Its lumpy when it ticks over but cuts out after a few secs
