Almera question

I have an 03 plate nissan Almera n16...It has started juddering under acceleration and the engine management light is on. Have replaced both cam/crank sensors...
Took rocker cover off and engine side casing, have noticed the the plunger from the tensioner is protruding by about 14mm and is past the ratchet on the tensioner...Does this mean I need a new chain? If so have Nissan strengthened their new chains or am I better buying from a motor factors?

Cheers...Keith

Juddering? I guess you have a 1.8 petrol then? helps to tell us more about the car and engine to get the right answer.

Oh and wlecome to the forums :)

What makes you say it's the 1.8 Ed ?

Keith - have you checked the coilpacks ? They can cause similar symptoms & definitely turn the ECU light on . . . . .

Only because I've heard about juddering on someone's 1.8 before. Could have been a one off or could be a QG trait. Don't know sorry didnt pay much attention to their thread.
