Another almera sport question

i was wondering if anyone can shed some light on a problem i have, when driving along normally and then changing gear i get a bad flat spot and i have to leave off the throttle and then reapply it, the problem gets worse the further up the gears i go and when changing from 4th to 5th the engine struggles and feels like its running on 3 cylinders, until i leave off the throttle again and reapply, i first thought that this may be fuel starvation caused by a blocked fuel filter but im now 90% sure my almera doesn't have one, any halp would be much appreciated
 
could this be the air sensor if it has one because mine had a crack in it and sort of did the same, not sure though
