Another newbie

Well, I've just picked up my Almera GTi. It's a 97 R (N15?) in Carmine Red. It's done about 106k with a full service history. Condition wise it needs all 4 arches sorting, as they're blistering, as well as an area on the tailgate. Mechanically it seems good though (touch wood). Just driven it back about 85 miles and everything seemed Ok.

I'd like to get hold of an original set of alloys for it, as I'm not keen on the 17s that it's currently wearing, and I need to decide whether to take the front splitter off (if possible) or try and get the missing towing eye cover for it. Then get the rust sorted and then have some fun.

Nice motor mate! Those alloys look alright? I'm guessing you want to revert to the standards for comfort reasons? Bigger wheels with lower profile tyres gives you a harder ride.

Sure I've seen a set of standard GTi alloys up for sale on here. Have a look in the for sale section.

(Yes it's an N15)

Enjoy!

They do look OK, but I tend to be a fan of originality, so would rather have a set of standard ones. I'll probably start looking properly in the new year for a set once funds allow. Then I can sell on the ones on the car.

Nice motor mate, i like the wheels aswell mate, something similar to what i want.

I'm sure if you search the scrap yards you should find the cover for the tow hook.

Smaz.

I've done a bit of research, and the wheels on it are OZ Polaris. Anyone fancy a swap for a set of standard GTi alloys? They've got some light curbing. If anyone is interested I'll try and get some photos of them alomg with details on the tyres.

looks v nice mate, not sure on that splitter though even with the tow eye.

do you know what splitter that is btw?

As far as I know it's the original splitter that came with the car. There's one on ebay at the moment with the same one fitted.

It's the same as the one on this car though

I guess an original brochure would show whether it's original or not. I did read somewhere that the original spliters were fragile and a lot have been replaced with phase 2 items.

that looks different agains, the sides aren't as smoothed as yours.

neither are original, the blkc one looks rubbish, yours looks better than that - just wondered what is was. Not nissan though. ;)

Oh god I know what this is. It's a the Vortex splitter for the N16 isnt it? Paul had this fitted which he got from Shakey's silver N16. imo ^that's a nasty splitter, so god knows why they would put one on an N15.

You're right, now I look again they are different. No idea what the one on mine is, I might try and contact the previous owner see if he knows.
