Any Ideas?

Alright people,

Been getting a knocking from the front end of the car, had it checked quickly this morning and seems as if the knock is coming from the drive shaft / gearbox on the drivers side.

Any ideas what could actually be the problem? I was going to change the drive shaft and see if that cured it so if anyone has an N16 1.5 offside driveshaft going let me know please

Sounds more like suspension to me.

Have you checked the spring cups (top and bottom) to make sure the spring's not become unseated? It did that a couple of times when I had it after spirited backroad driving on shitty roads or hitting potholes (edinburgh LOL) and led to a noise at low speed sometimes.

How was it checked that it seemed like gearbox / driveshaft?
 
Its definitely nothing to do with suspension bud, I've had the car up on the ramps at the garage and been under it and the knocking is definitely coming from the shaft / gearbox.

As you spin the wheel you can hear the knocking mate.

aye mick the 106 has a knocking driveshaft, and has had one for about 3 years, is gradually got worse to the point where the steering only has to be a tiny bit to the left or right and it starts knocking, when you replace it make sure you get a new drive shaft seals, they're only coppers but I normally forget to get stuff like that only to have to take it all apart again coz its leaking.

the man speaks wisdom. my gx is still leaking from when i replaced the clutch and not the seals...
