any ideas?

hi everyone, signed up a whilst back but been struggling to log in and finally made it , yay !!

got lots of questions if anybody has the time to help that would be most apriciated, (I have searc
hed the web also but seem to struggle to find soloutions to my worrys lol)

my car

phase 1 1996 black gti 104,000
I have red injectors (not sure if they are standard or not)
4into1 header straight through to jap box
standard panel filter
egr removed I think ( there is a Robinsons bottle top capped off in the intake lol )
fto front brake upgrade with green stuff pads
lowered 40mm on pi springs (not the chopped 1s it came with :/ lol)
uprated brake lines
think that's it rest is standard as far as I know

previous owner said it was dyno tested at 168bhp

this car is awesome to drive pulls like a train to the limiter and doesn't drop off!, I owned I remapped 1.8t golf and the mera would destroy it lol

1) can I run on vpower? can the timing be set for this for more performance?
2) is there any way of telling if the car is chipped?
3) not sure why my car doesn't pop on deceleration like every other car with a straight through
4) bit of a rattle near the top cam guide possibly tensioner knackerd?or guide?
5) is the ecu located under the centre console and have a small grey screw on the back?
6) what would an ideal setting for timing with my mods? hope to have pipercross filter xmas :)

thank you to any1 taking the time to steer me in the right direction with my mera

:)

1) V-Power will be fine. I wouldn't worry about adjusting the timing.
2) Your car won't be 'chipped' There aren't really any 'chips' that work with the ECU.
3) Popping isn't really a good thing so it just goes to show your fuelling is fine as it is.
4) Generally the timing chain tends to rattle on first start up on the chain guide under the timing cover. This is usually due to the tensioner not being primed until the oil pressure is up. You could try changing the tensioner for a newer one to see if it makes a difference.
5) The ECU is located behind the centre portion of the dash under the carpet. The one in the centre console is probably the Airbag control unit
6) Set timing to 16°

Your car sounds like it has had some good bits done to it already to make the most of the standard engine.

Red injectors are standard

Your car won't have an Egr delete. The blank you have in the inlet is just where the old silencer box used to be.

Chain tensioner is pretty simple job tbh, oil filter out. 2x10mm nuts and it's off. Make sure it's at TDC and you should be fine. 168bhp sounds high if it's not got a set of cams in it...
