Hi all just need a bit of info as modin my 1.4 si, first of all my mates boyf is trying to help me with it and does not seem too convincing on a few points. Had a look at taking the centre piece out of the grill with badge on so can mesh it out, he seems to think will be a big job with loads of t cutting involved? Also thinks will be poss for him and his mate to lower 40mm as did his saxo? However do ya think best for a garage to do?And thinking of putting laguna splitter on it as think they go on pretty much anything. Just need help as not familiar wiv modin almeras and alot of people are doubting me with it but i am determined as love the car and 100% it will look the bizz when done!! Any thoughts and ideas would be so helpful guys and gals!! ;) cheersx

Is that a typo ?

Yes, you might need a little t-cut ..... after you've filled, primered and painted the big hole you've got where there used to be a centre grill

Ive seen pics of a mera with a laguna front splitter, Cant remember where but it did look nice, Think there was a bit of cut and shut on it but nothing too bad.

I think the trick is to take your time.

Well am waiting foe a pay out to come through so prob in region of £800-£1500 depends how much money i get. What ya got in mind mate?

well, you can get the phase one gti front, rearsplitters and side skirts on e-bay for £200, lowering springs for around £80, 17's £500 new with budget tyres, and back box for around £80. Thats around £900ish.....then go for things such as air filter, window tints.......etc

Yeah i have thought about it but would not get much for my si as tried selling it is great car and for what people were offering for it i would rather keep and do up. plus insurance for me on gti too much as have no ncb and 22yrs old!!One day hey!

Hmmmmmmm Go for the Crusing look tinted windows Rims and a Drop and then get yourself a decent system so you can enjoy the music as you drive :). That should leave you some money too :)

cheers darren think i will be doing just that!!! ;) so whats your ride like?

Is it sad that my current aim in life is an Almera GTi? because it is! i was on a limited budget when i started (still am, hence the SRi) and i began with daft things like a gear knob+gaitor and spraying all my badges to match them, bee sting aerial etc, then i began to look at alloys and my catback exhaust etc! you need to weigh up whether you would benefit more from afew cheap mods Vs one expensive one (i.e. alloys etc). id say an induction kit would be the most cost effective + Nissan enhancing mod (sound, BHP etc) but that's just me!

The GTi is not a bad car :) and its a good aim in life but once you get the GTi you will get bored of it and aim higher :)

I have written off my 1.4 5 doored GX atm and i got the money back because it was not my fault and not i am getting a N16 1.5SE i will have to mod the car so i can fit my audio equipment. it does not have rims but i guess i am going wear the tyers down and then get a new set. apart from that i may tint the rear windows up i do not know about a back box or lowering it yet due to the insurance being so high  so i guess i will have to wait till next year when i get 1 years no claims :)
