autotech or look a like

AUTECH! lol
It is Al P's car, built by the man Rob_GTi originally, looks really nice on those wheels IMO. Sounds like the current owner is unaware of the mods.

WTF would you change back to P2s from the VZ-Rs & take the Autech badge off?

Probably been rear-ended & took the easy option.

Doubt its been rear ended, thered be more signs. Probably didnt like the VZR badge as its not a VZR or the 3d effect of the lights. He's not the only one, phillyt changed his VZR lights for P2s.

Yes that's my old Gti that I built years ago! Great to see it's still going and it's not been smashed or broke for bits. Still got the Autech kit and the n1 spoiler

Has anyone been to have a look at it? Wouldn't mind it really for that price I could finish what I wanted to do with it which was to be the first UK GTi with a VVL engine in it. Ended up buying a house instead though.

Theyre not dead  they both broke their cars for spares, the same engine was in both cars, however it was an SR20VE and not the SR16VE which is in the VZR, so Rob could still be the first to convert a UK GTi to true VZR spec

I'd love to buy it back and put a VE in it!

The whole reason I built the car was that one of my mates had a Pulsar Autech years ago and I loved how it drove and I always wanted one but you just couldn't get them in the UK. I thought the next best thing would be a UK spec Almera Gti so I bought one.

However I kinda felt a bit cheated by Nissan cos I knew that the UK spec Gti was a great car but it could have been so much better! It had some nice features like the bee sting ariel on the Phase 2 while the JDM cars all had the phase 1 bodyshell and the rear splitter.
I knew how good the Autech was and I looked at what was available in Japan as an alternative to the Gti and was suprised to find the Japanese got the NEO VVL in their cars, 175bhp and all from a 1.6 and LSD! Then I found out about SR20VE engine and just couldn't understand why Nissan didn't put the SR20VE or the SR16VE in the UK Almera GTi.
I also loved the extreme styling of the Autech kit more than the bland Si styling of the VZ-R's so I started searching for an Autech style bodykit for my Gti.
I decided to build the car that I thought Nissan should have built for the UK market as they'd had the technology to make the Almera a serious rival to the Civic type R! Plus all the parts (Apart from the wheels) I fitted to the car were factory available, Nissan off the shelf items.

I started with the Autech kit and also sourced the Leather/Suede interior from an Almera Gti "Special Edition" which i've never seen or heard of since. Unfortunately before i'd got round to sourcing a VE engine i'd decided to buy a house so I had to sell the car before I had the chance to finish the project to create an Almera Gti how Nissan COULD have made it.
If i'd have kept it I would have probably gone for a SR20VE with the N1 cams, headwork etc and aimed for 200bhp with an LSD box.

However i've got the Autech now and I love that to bits so I can't really justify buying my GTi back and spending 2k on it to achieve what I already have with the Pulsar. It was a great car and I am tempted and I do hope that someone in the club buys it and finishes it............
