Backbox mounting points

Hi All,

Quick question, are all the hanging points for a P1 almera backbox in the same position, i.e. if a universal backbox had been made to fit say P1 1.4 would it also fit a P1 Gti correctly. Are all the mounting points the same and would it fit onto the middle section correctly or are they different?

Unfortunately the GTi mid-section is different, so it won't bolt up correctly, however if you buy a GTi midsection it bolts straight onto the cat and is a direct transition (Sprint has done this, best to ask him re: mounting points).

I actually have a P1 Gti with standard exhaust, and was looking at a cheap universal jap backbox thats for sale which has been previously fitted to a P1 1.4 and wondered if it would just bolt onto my gti.

Can't afford a Janspeed one yet so looking at a cheap alternative for now.

Confused... the non-gti one fits the gti but not the other way around? Or do you just mean the mounting points match up Ian?
 
Ok getting confused my self here.

So the mounting points will be the same but the pipe work from the backbox(currently fitted to a 1.4 p1) will NOT meet up with a P1 GTis standard middle exhaust section pipe work. Is this correct? so this backbox will NOT fit my GTI.

Yes, the hangers are in the same place but the actual pipework does not match, and I wouldnt advise putting a 1.4 mid-section on your GTi. Theres a place near to me that does great prices for fitting aftermarket backboxes though, just need your OEM one (As damo_sri has done) for the flanges etc.
