Backlit display not working when headlights are on

Title says it all. Just today as I turned the car on and turned my headlights on then the backlit display doesn’t work. When I turn the headlights off then the backlight comes on. Any ideas?

Side note I have no idea how the heating controls in this car works it makes zero sense. Maybe I’m just dense lol.

Looks normal to me. Atleast if youre talking about the display above the AC going dark when turning headlights on.

On my N16 on the centre console press the right dial to turn on AC. Numbers 1 and 4 turn fan speed up/down. Number 2 switches airflow and 5 turns off AC
