Always disconnect the battery before performing any work in the engine bay.
Belts are simple enough to change, loosen locking bolts, release tensioners, fit new belts and reverse procedure. They will prob need tensioning again at a later stage because they initially stretch. Mine lasted about 2 months before letting out a little chirp due to the stretch.
