Hey,

New to the whole Jap scene, where is the best place to look for engine/performance mods??

Im planning on looking up some parts to give it some more power in the future.

Cheers Bryan

we all know that car mate theres not a whole lot left to do to it!!!
you could fit a fidnaza flywheel ..go well with that triple clutch... you could fit cams from an N1..but after that getting more power from an sr16ve means increasing the displacement...using the bottom end from a 2 litre sr 20

www.pitroadm.com has pretty much everything you could want but on the down side they can be exspensive!
Theres lots you can still do just got to use your imagination,if i were you i upgrade the brakes which would allow you to go much faster, seeing that the gtir brakes are the same if you have the cash and are serious all you have to do is purchase cause it already has 17'' wheels on so clearance should not be a problem.

NAH...don't waste your money on brakes! they only slow you down :D
Not much Nismo performance stuff I'm afraid for the JN15, like "lucino vzr 1" said PITROAD M have the best selection of gear but at a high cost.
A greddy e-manage I hear sneaks a few more ponies from these engines!

Send me your engine and a shit load of cash and I will build it for you.

Seriously though, for the VE engines there are a few things that you can do.

Get the crank from a Almera GTi and a set of SR20DE Eagle rods and put them into your engine.

Stick with the stock SR16VE pistons and you will net 2 litres and approx. 14:1 comp. ratio.

You will need to dial out a few degrees in the ignition timing and use at least 98 octane fuel.

Get yourself some N1 camshafts and an N1 intake & throttle body.

Match it to a good filter such as the BMC Carbon unit and use a good cold air feed.

The removal of the fog light or fog light blank is ideal for this.

Get yourself a Hotshot Gen. 6 header if you can or a 20V header and then match it to a 3" exhaust system with no silencers or CAT's and only a rear can.

Get a fidanza flywheel and an ACT HDSS clutch.

Get some lightweight crank & water pump pullies.

Get your ECU reprogrammed so that you can rev to 9000 rpm.

This will net you around 250 HP if tuned correctly!

Cheers

Dave

Wouldn't 20ve pistons be a better bet as 14:1 is a bit high,no?
Don't the 20ve pistons have smaller valve notch recesses?

Surely the higher the better though? As long as it doesnt explode. TDI engines are about 19:1 compression, that must explain the high torque figures

Well not really for a road car,95ron fuel,,,,,diesels are a whole different ball game though!
Remember the Carina's with the lean burn engines,as far as i can remember they used to be about 19:1 or thereabouts but suffered terribly from carbon build up with the high temps!

Depends who tunes it

&

Yes, they do have smaller valve notches!

I sent this spec list to a fella with written off VZ-R N1 and he's deciding to go with the full spec!

He's reshelling it into an Almera GTi! Can't wait to see the finished job, if it ever materialises!

Yeah sounds good, but why a GTi? Wouldnt he be able to get a cheaper bodyshell from an equation or something?

So that there is no messing with engine mounts as both use the SR block! Plus it would already have dick breaks etc, instead of having to fabricate carriers for a brake conversion!

DICK BREAKS!!!

Oooooooohhh...that's gotta hurt!

Better get a band-aid on it!
