Big time Newbie!

Hi guys,
just recently bought a 1.5 n16 almera, but cant honestly say i have any idea what there is to do with them. My 1st car was a Vauxhall Nova and the amount of mods there was for them was crazy! so to be honest jus really looking for some guidence.
cheers
Karl
P.S just because i had a nova does not mean i spent all my money in halfords!

Heyup. To be brutally honest there isnt a lot for N16 mods engine wise in the same way as a nova would have, although theres the possibility of swapping in the 1.8 lump?

Engine-wise, it is as Corbs says - very limited. But there's always cosmetic stuff like nicer alloys or an ICE install. Depends where your interest lies Karl . . . . . :)

you got to remember the N16 is not a boy racer hot hatch fella

the nova is! thus why there is not as many off the shelf plastic bits of stick on stuff available

your onto a proper car now were you can start to Mod properly

enjoy the car

ive had her for about 2 weeks now! and its already like Nova who? i was looking into a new exhaust but cant find one anywhere

Welcome :) You won't find many off the shelf parts at all mate. So looking for an exhaust for one will not work. Custom all the way. You can get a Remus back box though that is a direct fit for the N16. You can also get a nice header for the QG engines (yours is a QG15, there's also the QG18 as mentioned already that is near enough the same except for stroke?) from the US I believe.

Of course there's lightening the flywheel which was done a little while back by a member on here with the same engine to great effect so I'm told.

If you're looking into seriously modding the engine then firstly I'm going to be burtally honest too and say, save your money while you've got the 1.5... if you turbo it it might be quick but the block and gearbox is unlikely going to last that long. As Corbs says, drop in the 1.8? Or even drop in the 2.2 turbo diesel ;) lol, not everyone's cup of tea mind.

Paul's right though, cosmetics wise there's a quite a few things you can do and you can turn the (imo) otherwise boring and not so attractive stock N16, into a real stunner :)

You could start with a K&N panel filter and a Remus/Sebring backbox. Alternately if you have £300 to spend, you could have a totally custom fit cat-back with your own choice of tailpipe :)

^Powerspeed in kent for a custom exhaust fella :) You must be faily close by. I'd recommend them highly :thumb:

Welcome to the AOC :D Even though you've got an N16...

Nowt wrong with having a 1.5 N16 Phil! (I had a grey P2 when I was a noob in 2006) :rasp:

Mods I can remember having on it were:

17" Alloys

Sebring backbox

Smoked repeaters

K&N induction kit

& I believe I was the 1st person in the country to have an N16 fitted with a genuine Nismo B15 Sentra front strut brace, as it took alot of resarch to make sure it was a direct fit. :D

I did buy some Ksport coilovers for it, but never fitted them.

Here it is @ JAE `06!

Good on ya Fred :)

welcome to AOC mate glad to see another N16 I got a N16 and I love it mate. not many mods you can do to the engine. I would not bother for the money your going to spend on it your better of swapping it for a Almera GTi engine or a Primera GT engine.

sheer class all the way, i even had the m.o.t. inspector come up to me to tell me how well done it was, he then asked where and when, little did i no he had a 350z outside with custom build exhaust.... will never forget that noise!!...
