Bonnet release adjustment

Can anyone help me here.

Since changing my gearbox ive had the problem that when i close the bonnet, the releae lever doesnt release the catch so ive had to remove the mechanism to open the bonnet again.

I took the catch assembly off to remove the exhaust manifold.

Question is, is there any adjustment on this cable so i can see if i tighten it, it will allow the mechanism to operate?

All help welcome, cheers, Paul! :)

sounds more like when you have re-attached it you have not got it centered properly

there is some play in them!

if you dont get it vertical/horizontal itll catch and not release, which means u ghotta lift bonnet at same time as pulling the lever!

try slacken the 2 bolts off and look for a (very faint) line were it use to sit!

Mine went out of alignment when I took my bonnet off, like quickdraw said, its the adjustment of it that makes the bonnet not lift up when you pull the catch which is damn annoying!!

excellent.

Another related thing, ever since i bought the car the bonnets never sat as tight as id like, what i mean if you get ur fingers on the front lip of the bonnet when its locked down you can lift it slightly, say 2-3mm when it should be solid, does anyone think this could be along the lines of alignment, e.g. the catch mechanism is too high?

Possibly, there's also those screw adjusters either side isn't there
try having a mess with them?
other than that you could try adjusting the actual position of the bonnet on its hinges?#
:)

Good stuff, ill have a bash after work tomorrow.

Ill miss the 50mpg when i drive the almera again :P

u must be driving very carefully, problem is my peak torque comes in just below 3grand so thats my excuse for revving it :P

Yeah I have been trying to calm down a lot since I lost my job,
Hard round my area though with the amount of racers!
I always end up in a race when I'm trying to cruise and conserve fuel!
