Im in same position, Only got one key but most tinbox operation key cutters cant do nissan keys so they need to go to the dealer. Ive lived with only one key on all 4 cars ive owned so i think i will leave it for now.

How you finding the tino?

Thanks for the welcome!

The tinos behaving. Had to replace the battery given the recent cold weather. it starts first time and is running fine now.
I have found it loses power going up hills though, but i understand thats to do with a sticky egr valve, which i intend to replace or get a reconditioned one soon.
Let me know if you do get another key sorted though. There was a guy in sunderland who use to repair them, but i dont think he does them any more.

I will keep you posted of any other things i discover.

How are you getting on with yours?

Im waiting for some spare time and nicer weather to get some pictures.

Also waiting on my facia adaptor to arrive so i can fit my Cd player.

Tino2010, When you say loss of power do you get any juddering like a misfire?

After about an hour of driving mine after i picked it up on friday i got a misfire, Ive serviced the car today and the spark plugs that were fitted were the incorrect type, The misfire calmed down now and only happens every so often, Most of the time its when under load. Ive googled and timing chain seems to pop up a few times but i dont think its that. Just wondering if it might be worth me checking egr if you get any misfire type symptoms.

Big up the Tino massive!!

No I dont get any juddering or misfire. It just wont go above 2000rpm when going up a hill and loses power so you have drop a gear or two. Right pain as you see the boys in their turbos run past you!
I want to replace/recondition the egr valve and clean up the breather pipes and see what happens. You're right I dont thinks its the timing chain. It shouldnt be misfiring if you have had it serviced!

Like you I am waiting for the weather to pick up so I can start looking under the bonnet.

Talking of incar entertainment, mine has a radio cassette player, which is a little tempramental, goes off at key moments when the score are on five live!! Replacing that is further down the list..

Have you got alloys on yours?

Nope no alloys on mine. Has yours? The misfire comes and goes but its now mainly at high revs and not at low revs like it was so makes pulling away abit easier.

I havent got any mine either, just the funky hub caps! Will see if anyone has some to sell.
I will ask around to see if anyone knows why its misfiring at high revs. I think it might be worth asking the experts on this site the question though, as I am no mechanic.
I have discovered another problem with mine, I think the cable on the back of the hot and cold dial is stuck to hot, which is only blowing hot air fine in this cold weather!!
I am not sure whether the cable can be replaced or if the whole heater unit has to be replaced. Guess these are just problems you expect in a 9 yr old car!!

as I am no mechanic.

I am lol. Its just finding time to mess around with the car, its to cold out. It was misfiring at about 1000rpm so pulling off was abit tricky, since i changed the plugs it now misfires at 5500 instead, strange. Plenty of power lower down the rev range so i can live with it for now.

You would be best off removing the centre console and checking the cabling for the heater control.

I will probably get some alloys myself in the future as i plan on keeping the car for some time.

I wont say anything about you being a mechanic then!!
I am sure you already know... there is a pump on top of the of the oil filter which occasionally needs pressing to take out any air if the car is parked up for any length of time.

Let me know when you get your alloys, and how much they cost. I will keep my eyes open too. Are there any good part suppliers or breakers you use? I have been watching days of wheeler dealer and these guys never get the parts from the dealers! Well heres to the weather getting better so I can open the centre console to check the heater cabling, dont want to mess it up when the heater is needed....lol

I just use my normal parts supplier, saying that ive only had the car 6 days now so ive only bought servicing bits.

I went to the breakers today, looking for some of those aeroplane style tables to go on the back of the chairs but there wasnt any tino's in the breakers and i went to five.

There not the most popular car in the world.

On a plus note my cd player facia adapter has arrived and ive now got that fitted. woop.

I have been to a few breakers yards around the midlands before the weather got bad and you're right there arent many being around. but I have been told there will be some coming in during late spring. I have been happy with the car so far it does all the jobs you need it to do.

But at least we have increased in numbers on the site!!

How easy are the covers on the head lights to get hold of and replace on the tino? Mine has been parked under a tree it seems by the previous owner and I have tried to get the muck and sticky stuck off and it wont budge!
