if as a budget upgrade id agree with scott, did the GTi swap on my sri, so much better Pretty cheap aswell, think i got my calipers for 40 quid!
Even if they did produce bigger discs, the pad area and position stays the same so you wouldnt gain anything. GTi discs are 256mm diameter as apposed to the smaller phase 1 232mm and phase 2 247mm 1.4/1.6 discs, also the GTi discs are about 25mm thick rather tahn 18mm so they will stay cooler longer i should imagine
iirc you need the calipers, carriers, pads and discs. They should bolt up and, once bled properly, work on the standard brake master cylinder just fine
