Brakes advice

Having been an 'Mera GTi owner for a couple of months now and loving any minute of it I now have a bit of a brake problem and was hoping for some useful advice.

I had some new front brake pads fitted at an independant garage and since they have been fitted the brakes have rattled like f**k. The rattle stops when I am braking and doesn't rattle when on motorways.

My car has been back to the garage twice, the first time they put another set of pads in, as they beleived the first set may have been faulty, but the brakes still rattled and the second time they had another look and said everything is as it should be. They have said that the anti rattle clips are in place and that the pads and shims are correctly fitted.

They have now told me that the rattle is due to some guide pins(??) that should, in time, as the pads wear become more snug and stop rattling. I have phoned Nissan who have said that I could grease the pins to try and stop this or have the pins replaced, but even then this may not stop the rattle.

Anyone ever had anything like this or reckon the garage have made a mistake. Should I take it to Nissan? Any help appreciated.

My brakes do the same fella, nothing to worry about, just a bit annoying! You sure they've definitely fitted the anti-rattle clips/shims though? Greasing the guide pins might help, but as I said, it's really nothing to worry about.

Cheers for the reply and your right it is bloody annoying. They have assured me they have fitted the shims/anti rattle clips. I will be checking them when I get a chance tho!

Mine does it but I never put the shims back in, so I would check that they have actually put them back in.
