I just want to ask if i have 1.4 almera and swap 2.0 sr20de, do i have to upgrate my brakes to ?

I don't think you have to change the brakes but it would be highly recommended mate.I know I would at least put discs on the back if I was swapping over.(i'm assuming you have drums on the back?) :)

if you consider how much faster your capable of going, the brakes on the 1.4 wont be powerful enough to cope with the change. I would assume cheapest option would be to get some gti ones and possibly uprated discs (grooved and drilled?) with softer compound pads. Shouldnt cost too much.

Are there any big-brake kits for an n15?

Gti front calipers are a direct fit on any N15, but obviously need the discs and pads......these with red stuff pads and 5.1 fluid is all you`ll ever need.......my set-up stopped me from 120mph 36 times on the Bedford Autodrome track without any fuss.

its not just the extra speed that you will be able to achieve but also the 2ltr is heavier than the 1.4.
uprated brakes are always a good idea

think the caliper carriers on the GTi-R are different. But if your doing the swap, i would do the brakes first. Nothing like coming up to a round about at 100pmh after driving hard and your brakes turning into spongy pieces of shit

d0b0 hit the nail on the head....if you increase the weight then you need better brakes but you don't need better brakes just because your car is capable of going faster, unless you are taliking about on a track where you will be going top speed ;)

I'm pretty sure this is the case too

... the up-side is that (if it is different) it's only the offset that's different and this can be fixed using washers to space the calipers off the hub

Not sure where my 300mm discs off the GTi-R originally came from, but they needed a few washers to pack out the caliper carrier so I suspect they weren't an Almera/GTi-R fitment

Look out for stuff for other 4x100mm pcd cars with a shallow offset if you want to go for big brakes (or anything for the GTi-R itself if buying new)

ive got GTIR callipers, discs and GTI pads on me almera, no problems at all, exactly the same
