Broke the Autech

:( :( :(

Smashed the front bumper clean in two.

Wasn't driving into anything, it was at 2mph in reverse. I was backing out of a mates lock up and the flared part caught the door and snapped it clean in two :(

I've spent the last 2 days and 12 hours fiber glassing and fillering her face back together.

The front end is fiber glass and is maybe 8mm thick in the thickest places and maybe 3-4mm thick in the thinest, so I've bulked up the weak areas, It's shaped back, but it's going to fitted in white primer for now until I can get a friend to spray it.

I've also sorted Br3's ghey "drifting game" accident

So I will have a mint front end come the end of next week I hope.

Still a pain in the royal twat :(

On the plus side, it was really easy to remove the resonator box and reinforce my cold air feed

Big gay as I spend 4 hours fully machine polishing the whole car and a new glaze and 2 coats of wax were applied then it fucked in half

Here she is in her current state, kinda like Victoria Beckham after a nose job

Being sprayed next Monday. :(

Never done a days body work in my life, not too shabby eh? ;)

When you consider that it it was in two pieces, the white primer shows where it split, it was in a poor shape.

Not so good snapping it, but looks like you've done a grand job there fiberglassing! You should do a how to????

Glad you've managed to get it sorted as it would have been expensive for a replacement.

Matt

I think Dropkit would appreciate a how to - his autech bumper was smashed whilst the car was being unloaded.

very nice mate! should look good when its painted up, Dont mock the "drifiting game" nearly sent an rx7 over a cliff!

It has also cracked the paint on the wing as well, so that needs spraying too

As far as a how to, mine was cracked in the most bastard place, but I managed it with no previous training to body repair. I just spend the entire weekend in the garage with wet and dry, soapy water, fiber glass and E38 filler. :(

I just fiber glassed the two pieces back together then slapped a good amount of filler on the cracks and fucked paint and went to bed...

Sunday rolls around, up at 9am, in the garage and flat and shape the filler over and over again, adding more and more every time I'd flatted it to get the shape back and fill cracks and splits.

Then just wash it down with soapy water to remove grease and dust, then spray the fillered areas with primer.

Then off to the pro to finish it up and spray it and match it to the car. :)

Oh, and a radio to listen to those cracking pop charts. :P

i mashed my autech kit last year aswell, got it on a kerb and done quite a bit of garage, brought it down to my garage man and fixed it up nicely, was well worth it as he took out all the little stone chip marks from before i got the car

looks like you've done a great job benskett!! be more careful next time!

Cheers all, it just saves a bit of money. It took me ages to get it back together, I know a pro would take half the time, but it's still more money.

It's going to need a skim with filler and some high build primer then light grey undercoat then a darker grey undercoat before the Kuro Black.

Got to live with it for a week I guess.

Pffff - Autech's got less plastic on it than V.B.

Looks like you did a great job there mate.

Well at least youll blend in a bit more now. Half the cunts round my way drive cars with bumpers still in primer......the difference is they think it looks cool!. Good effort on the repair sir.

I get it back tomorrow, I get it back tomorrow, I get it back tomorrow, I get it back tomorrow, I get it back tomorrow, I get it back tomorrow, I get it back tomorrow, I get it back tomorrow, I get it back tomorrow, oh joy! :D
