Cambelt Change 54,000

In the service book its got for a 54,000 service its due a cambelt change, my car just had a 63,000 service and iv not had the cambelt change. How much is the cambelt change and is cambelts not meant to last 120,000 miles?

Just as an idea just had the girlfriend cambelt done on her Astra 1.6SXI cost £107 at Nationwide Autocentre (including a 10% discount for being in the AA), think the main dealer were looking for £160+VAT... your lucky hers was due at 40,000 miles!!!

All N16's and most N15's apart from diesel all use chains.

The kit will cost you around £400 from nissan. Aftermarket around £120. Then about 4 - 6 hours garage time if not doin it yourself.

If its a cambelt, get it replaced at the specified mileage if not sooner. They can snap and screw your engine. I had one in a renault snap at 60mph, big clunk, dash lit up like a christmas tree and it was bye bye engine

I don't know of any cambelt that'll last that long - if it's overdue, get it done pronto or it's goodbye engine any time soon.

To be fair, the service shedule for the N16 (just like the GTi) does say 54,000 cambelt change. It's not a belt though so don't worry.

-SHOULD- last forever buddy nothin to worry about on the 03+ cars.

Hi, I'm a newbie on here and just been reading this thread with interest.

I have a 2.2dci (04) and my handbook refers to a cambelt change too.

I've always assumed it was a chain????
