central locking erratic.......

MY central locking's gone a bit haywire on my P1 Gti when I UNLOCK only.
It unlocks fine but then, if I open a door it immediately locks itself.
When I pull the lock button back by the interior door handle it unlocks itself again OK but sometimes needs a couple of goes i.e it locks again straight away and fights me!
I've cleaned and WD40'd the door and bonnet switches but can't think of what else to do - any ideas?

Did you let the WD40 dry before you put the door plugs back it?

Do them again, and dry with a hairdryer.

make sure all the conecting rods for the door handles (interior and exterior) are fitted proparly

Central locking....

Hello mate, I've now looked at both door handles and linkages and they appear to be fine. The problem has now worsened and sometimes locks itself again almost immediately after I've unlocked it without me even touching a door handle.
Any ideas??

^ mine does the same sometimes, really annoying too. it'll even lock me out if ive closed the door with the keys left inside
ie engine running.

my old gti used to do that I put it down to worn loom from the door to the piller

Try squirting the door solenoid plug with WD40 and drying with a hairdryer.
