My car is:
Almera 1.4 87hp

Does Anyone Knows what can i do to get a better performance of my car?? :D
By the way, does anyone has photos of the same car but changed. :)

thank you

If its 5 dr find ricks green goddess in members rides. was 1.4 with gti engine. real nice motor, shame what happened but could give ya idea.

Also gynx i think has a 1.4 done up, that also nice. not sure on performance mods for it though. Generally same at 1.6 parts n stuff

The performance manifold for the 1.6 engine will fit, you can get one from www.hotshot.com - supposed to give about 12bhp on the 1.6 so maybe 8bhp on the 1.4?

Also a "superchip" would free up some extra horses too I reckon, de-cat pipe and cat back exhaust would help some too. :D

Don't waste your time with a superchip. A Maccy D's french fry will have about the same effect.

My best advice (although i aint got that much lol) would be not to bother performance moddin ur 1.4 at all. Either stick in a 1.6 block (will fit on ur current transmission, although its recomended ud need a new clutch (or a 1.6 one)) & start from there , or the more costly and gaining 2.0 Swap

I say this because basicly , you could spend 2 or 3 grand on engine mods & probably not even break even with 2.0 power

N15

hey mate, I have the same car but in red!

what I do for optimum performance from my 1.4 is,

1)Run Full synthetic motor oil
2)use the best spark plugs and HT wires you can get.
2)get an induction kit.
3)when you fill up,use a fuel additive.
and regular tune ups are a must.

Like he said, four branch manifold, cat back system, maybe a chip would give a few gains.

Or Possibly you could get the engine rebuilt, get it rebored so to put in bigger pistons and a performance cam shaft, head skimmed,de-coked,polished valves etc, there is lots you could do mate.

Also yes it is true:why throw a few grand at an engine to get it up to say a 1.8L or maybe even 2.0L when you could buy the GTI standard for just over £2000 with the SR20 2.0L engine.I personally like my 1.4 as it is a great car!will keep it until the day the new almera GTI comes out, ;)

Better yet, get yourself nitrous fitted for £500 quid, which will give you the best power increase of all.
nice lookin car though mate! :) see you later

or if you know anyone handy you could get it bored out to a 1.6 and get a bit of head work done and no-one will think its modified

I also assume that you'd end up with a higher CC by getting the 1.4 bored to the same cylinder size as the 1.6. Pretty sure the GA14's got a longer stroke

-edit-

And also if ur after pure performance , stay away from large alloys. It may not effect the larger models much , but these 17's on mine + the extra drag off the body kit have slowed the car down dramaticly
