changing battery

Hi folks - a silly noob question for you, if you wouldn't mind indulging me. I have an N15 (95-2000) 1.4 saloon, and it looks like the battery has finally quit. It was sluggish for a few weeks, and finally failed to start yesterday. I'm going to jump start it shortly, and have a go at finding and then metering the alternator to confirm its the battery that's faulty.

My question is, when I change the battery, will completely removing power cause problems with any of the electronics? I've heard some cars wont start if the computer completely loses power.

Thanks.

If your in-car clock or preset radio stations are classed as a problem, then yes. Otherwise no, it's all fine to remove power from the ECU.

Not meaning to hijack a thread, but what is the largest recomended battery for N15 Ga 1.4's. May be of use to others as well.
