Clear side repeaters and insurance

Been looking on ebay for the above, and none of them are E-approved, although I gather that with the right bulbs they'll pass an MOT OK. But just wondering if you were involved in an accident, which maybe involved you turning left or right, could/would the insurance company use that as an excuse not to pay out?

no its a far to trivial item, aslong as you have the orange bulbs in your fine, or the swanky silver ones

Cheers lads.
Yeah, @ skyinsurance: obviously would declare them, but if they're not E-approved would you kick up a fuss or not?
And Joe, if your car's an undriveable write-off, like my last one was, they take it away for inspection there and then - so not always an option...

to non nissan enthusiasts they look standard anyway. Surely the check list wont have the colour of the repeater? If its headers or exhaust its a different matter, but an indicator? Insurance gone mad. Ask the insurers to b sure though.

They must either have an orange bulb or an orange lens, they don't have to have both. ;)

As Paul said ;)
Mine came from the Nissan garage with 'E' Marked clear repeaters and nothing has ever been mentioned for an MOT. Clear lens, amber bulb FTW

Well, yeah, but it's the ebay ones that are NOT e-marked that I'm concerned about. But sod it, I ordered some today anyway - as long as my insurance accepts them as a mod, then they shouldn't back out if they ever need to pay out...

Mine came from ebay & I did have to do a bit of wiring, but they work fine & are perfectly legal. :)

mine were off ebay too but they claimed they were E approved, dunno if they were but the quality is good with a decent rubber seal. Using the chrome bulbs.

If you're indicators are visible from the side it's perfectly legal not to have side repeaters at all so I wouldn't worry. My Nova never had any because I couldn't be bothered drilling holes for them in the new wings, went through three MOTs like that.
