hi lads, just noticed today that im having trouble with the fuel gauge and temp gauge, they seem to be reading wrong, the fuel gauge is moving up and down slowly even though the car is full of petrol. The temp is going up and down, not hot just from middle to cold but the strangest thing here is if I bang the dash with my hand it al seems to start working properly!!! has this ever happened to anyone before????

Hi mate, uhm nope never happened to me...BUTT...from what u'r sayin I guess you got some loose cables, (creepy to say corroded)but also possible,...the fuel gauge works on resistance from the fuel level meter, and the temperature gauge on a thermistor NTC i guess,...so all this crap means that your resistance is going wild cuz of improper connections or corrosion (hardly doubt any other reasons),...get the gauge out and resquish the 3 connectors in there

Thanks for the info, ya sorry it is an N15, I taught its a very strange one alright!
My mechanic thinks its resistor trouble as well, or circut trouble in the clock set, says that replacing the clock set might sort the problem. Is there a "How to" anywhere on removing/replacing the clocks??? any help would be really good thanks!
