Right ive just been to see a GTI i want to buy, 3 owners from new, 75,000 miles, green, good body ect, excellent condition otherwise.

However, the clutch feels like its slipping or about to give up so how much cash am i looking at for a new clutch, not bothered about labour costs just the clutch itself and all nesasery bits.

Ow he wants £925 for it on an s reg, so yeah how much is a new clutch :), any help much appreciated.

You can get them for around £60+. Seems like a good buy. Although its best to get a genuine nissan release bearing and some new driveshaft oil seals......but i`m a fussy bugger!

I got a clutch afew months ago from Sewell's in Billingham mate, cost me £49.99, hasnt let me down.

yeah i just seen one on ebay for £49.99 also, he he i just rang up and bought the car, so im now a gti owner :)

out of curiosity how much would labour be, not really a problem as my cousin owns a garage and does all the work on my car but im just curious as to what labour would be from an independent garage, cheers.

I remember when I had my Mera N15 1.4 GX the clutch cost me £60 quid and labour cost me 100. it was a Valeo Clutch. Nissan told me that the Valeo Clutch was the same with a Nissan Badge

Before you change the clutch, check it's not simply the cable that is not adjusted correctly/stretched. Would be a hell of a lot cheaper!

Replacing the clutch: The kits themselves may only be £50 but the labour is quoted at 5 hours. It actually took my mechanic longer than that but he only charged me 5. Depends on how much labour your cousin will charge ya.

You basically have to dismantle both hubs and drop the driveshafts out to change it. Its worth changing the cable at the same time anyway.

either way it was a cheap car i think lol, cheers for help people.

i shall post pics when i get it, cant pick it up till monday :(

have to sell my swift gti now lol.

if you can get one and are after a little more performance, you'd do a lot worse than getting a lightweight flywheel fitted at the same time as the clutch. will save you spiltting the box again if you decide that you want one later. I have a fidanza and it really helps the pick up. Others are available so do a search.

enjoy ! :)

ps good price !

just done a clutch on mine. cost me 67 inc vat for the clutch. i did it when the engine was out so was easy... i think its not a bad job anway even with the engine in the car. not as simple as a punto 1.2 tho. they only take 35-45 mins!!!

make sure you copper slip arround the inside of the release brg as my old one was sticking very badly.
