Clutch help

Hey guys,
This is my first real post so hopefully it's in the right section ;)

The clutch in my 1.4 invitation is sitting 'very' high. It's really on the point of going. Admitantly i do ride the clutch just a little bit :( but after 48k it should still be ok.

However, i have an appointment tomorrow to get a new one and but in shopping around i have been advised to get the flywheel changed at the same time. Is this right?

I'm paying about £260 tomorrow but another garage wanted £600 with a flywheel.

Cheers

Kev

Can't see any reason why a 48k motor would need a new flywheel. As for clutch biting point, that could be a cable issue but if you've checked that then i guess its a new clutch, which at 48k depending on the driver can happen.

Unless the flywheel is physically scored or damaged it will not need replacing. You only generally change dual mass flywheel's everytime you change a clutch, and thats because they either fall apart or have too much play in them.

Thanks chaps.... now for the update :)

Brought her in to Mr Clutch in Northampton and when they took the clutch out it was worn down to the rivets :( and the flywheel was slightly scored. They skimmed the fly and installed a new clutch and she's running perfectly. I need to look a my driving style :D
