Clutch + Nats

Good morning to all, I will be changing the clutch soon + as usual will need to disconnect the battery, as the job can take 5 hrs I am concerned that it will affect the Nats. ie; shut down.
Nissan say, yes + that after the job I would need to take the car to the nearest dealer who is 25 mls away, + for a fee they would re-program the Nats.
As a CAUTION not all Nissan dealers know that Nats are affected. 1 dealership said that disconnecting the battery would not cause a shutdown. I am contacting nissan uk to complain.
I have asked several mechaniks with mixed replys.
The best yet was from a Halford who said that if I disconnect live wire from starter motor + tape end up to stop it grounding then I could change clutch no probs, the chap said I could disconnect battery for no longer than 10 mins to do the starter + then re-connect battery.
I have paid membership + am waiting to be prosessed + I know that much has been written of Nats but can anyone verify that the above is correct or has anyone been thru the above.
thanks.

Nissan are talking pish, i have done clutches engine changes and all sorts, head gaskets and no power to the car for weeks on end and everything is okay, once clutch is done it will still be all stored in the ECU, dont worry mate, Nats will hold.

Yes i've done clutch changes in my GTi mate, when the battery is disconnected the NATS will beep after a few seconds. Then after about 4 or 5 hours later when you reconnect the battery, the NATS will beep again and be fully functional with no problems at all :)

It's a load of tosh!

what they all said, a clutch change will not affect anything...
