put coilovers on my car, got about 100mm drop on, running 17's, an i scrub i like motherf*cker when i corner even slightly fast. it does look the mutts nuts now tho

im thinking of buying some standard gti wheels, what do you guys recommend, considering handling, acceleration, and cornering

i know, im already knackered for speed bumps, but i was thinking maybe 16's, so they are a bit lighter and dont scrub so much...

im a bit worried about everything really, so input will be greatly recieved...

so if i go to the standard wheels, i will have to raise it up?

dam, i like it that low!

and kurt could you post a pic of your car up side on so i know how low mine will look...;0)

Kurts is about the same height as mine and its not for the faint hearted. I wouldn't drive it as my daily driver that low. Its just an arse if im being honest. Feels good round roundabouts but thats nothing to be proud of really is it. Need to get on the track and get my £600 worth!

mines lower than that! haha, ill see, what size wheels are on kurts there? 16's? i was gonna do exactly what youve done with your wheels simcard and leave it on 100mm! my main question is will it scrub on 60-70 mm drop? with either standard wheels or my 17's!

True, mine is my daily driver...but I am lucky enough to have a works van..so it doesn't get used 'all' the time.

And yes I do swear alot when im driving, constantly cursing the UK roads and my stupid car  , but the likes of yesterday are where they come into there own...just whacked them on the hardest damper setting and it helped loads on launches.

PS, If you've got a P1 with kit, or a P2 it will ruin the bumper...I've just learnt to not care anymore.

Luckily though the ph2 front spliter is quite durable and will take some of the harsher scrapes well.

edit: corbs beat me to it by about a second

yea, mines a p2, and it was getting battered before, and mines a daily drive, but its not too bad, ill get some photo's up at somepoint, looks sweet...

i have 17's on and mine are set to 50 drop. looks the nuts still and can still manage bumps and can be used easily as a daily driver.
Ride isnt harsh either ;)

this is the problem with having such a long bumper and large arches...

looks the tits though!!!

here's mine, on 17's

pretty low, wouldnt go any lower than this, dont scrape at all

but dont use the car everyday, so i can get away with it

did manage to run over a fox, it got under the front bumper somehow? hit the rear axle then must have kicked up and cracked the rear bumper on the way out

mines nearly as low as yours andrew, but i think my wheels are much closer to the arch, as it scrubs like a mofo! gonna get some standard wheels and raise it up a bit i think...

sod off kurt! ah anyway, you know, i was waiting for that if im honest....its been pissing it down since ive fitted them, so when its sunny i iwll get some, or i might go to the local multi story...

haha, didnt even think of that, altho, my local multi story isnt that bad, not like the normal ones

how did you lower your cars about 90 or 100mm? special (shortened) shock absorbers? seems to be a standart-tuning part... in germany the lowest we can get is about 70mm - and the price for this is about 900pounds

would interest me how this lowering can be realized ;)
