Compare, contrast, and pick

Hey All,
I've been driving an 01 1.5 Almera for a few years now, about 6 months back a guy drove head on into me and to put my car back on the raadI bought a second Almera for parts a 02 1.5. The 02 looked better from the outside, but the engine was rough. Well, I had my 01 back on the road a couple of months when I got T-boned right on the driver side door. The door is wrecked Panels are wrecked the front left wheel is smashed in.

When I was taking parts off of the 02 Almera I noticed there were differences in the build, the 02 seems a little better but the rear breaks were drum rather than disc etc... What I was wondering is:

1.Would I be better off swapping the engine out of my 01 (JN1CAAN16U0017703) and into the 02 (SJNBAAN16U0290392) and put that back on the road or fix up the 01 as best I can?
2. which of my Almeras is the better car?
Thoughts?

Thanks Toft

sale it and buy gti
I was thinking of sticking with whichever of the two was better. I noticed when I was taking off the bar behind the bumper on my 02 (black) that it was much sturdier than the one on my 01 (red) Almera. Even though they should be the same there are differences.
Like the newer Almera has disc and drum breaks but the older ones all disc.
I might just settle for putting the best bits on whichever car I stay with.

Pretty bad luck.
Good insurance payout though?
If it were me,i think i would just get another one,
cherry pick the bits off the others and weigh them in.
I would go for a 2.2 D or 1.8 petrol 3 door ,preferably without a sunroof for the strongest shell,

The payout looks to be shit. My insurance are exaggerating the hell out of some v minor scratches, saying they drop the value by €550.
And they're saying the average value is €900 but they won't back p that claim with evidence and they are ignoring the prices I've been able to find for cars just like mine. So a friend who knows more about cars than I do and I are getting me back on the road as cheaply as possible.
But after getting smashed to bits twice in 4 months (First, a head-on crash with a traveller with no tax or insurance, and second I think I was pulling out when I got hit but I got knocked very out and don't remember) I'm really keen to pick the best option for a strong well built car. I think I'll go for the 02 Almera as it hasn't been in two crashes.
