Couple of queries

right guys im after a little bit of information.

does anyone know how much a standard fuel pressure regulator is from nissan? my car has got an fse one on and from what i can tell its doin nothing apart from making the car really thirsty!!

also ive been under the car looking at the stainless exhaust thats on it. it looks to me that the cat is right at the bottom of the downpipe before the flexi? is this right? on my old vw lupo the cat was after the flexi. the rest of the system on my ph2 gti just consists of 2 stainless boxes.

apologies for the lack of knowledge, ive only had chance to look under the car as it is. not up in the air. but was wondering if it had been decatted. Does anyone have a standard exhaust diagram?

cheers

im sure they have 2 cats , my main cat after my flexi ,not sure where the other one is:O

please feel free to correct me in future posts :)

IIRC as standard the Almera's have a pre-cat in the manifold, and a cat afer the flexi before the midsection.

Hi, I believe Truck is right about the GTi having 2 cats, the 1st one (pre-cat) is part of the actual exhaust manifold that the downpipe bolts to, the 2nd (main cat) is the box type thing with 2 bolts going through a flange on each end between the flexi & mid-section (directly below the gear stick ;) ).

As it`s got a stainless system, it`s probably got a 4-2-1 header (manifold & downpipe) fitted, so will only have the main cat anyway.

If you`re thinking about removing the system, the only reason you should remove it, is if it`s a Scorpion system, as they are notorious for hitting the rear axle, because of their poor design.

im getting it up on a ramp tomorrow so ill try and get a picture underneath. from what it looks like it has a standard manifold and downpipe with the flexi, then theres a box stamped longlife with a flange either end which then goes straight on to the backbox.

its confusing, lol

IIRC, the manifold was fine, the downpipe that bolts to it had the pre-cat. Then there was the really obvious cat actually under the car.

yep...the pre cat was on the downpipe...mine's got a wide bit on the downpipe just after the bend, 2.5" tubing, then the cat, then another wide cylinder bit....then 2.5" tubing all the way to the back box. Not a very good pic, but here's a pic from the cat backwards...

linky

The cat's pretty big...it should be obvious if it's there or been replaced by a cylindrical decat...

well after closer inspection today with the car up on a ramp its evident the car has been decatted.

so think im on the look out for a new exhaust system with a new cat. does anyone have any recommendations?

also found out today though that its lowered on eibach springs, so thats a bit of a bonus. does anyone the drop from standard these give? im guessing 30mm?

it's usually a 35mm drop...the most you can do just with springs. why a new exhaust system? Why not just buy a cat?

to be honest the system thats on it doesnt look in very good condition. i had an exhaust made up by mij performance on my old lupo gti and it was absolutely perfect.

does anyone know about the fuel pressure regulator?

Ive got a standard one off a 1.6, looks the same as the SR20 one. I'll see if I can find it. No idea on the price from nissan, I dont think the FSE would be making the car thirsty. Maybe check the timing, as mine was stinking of petrol then I advanced the timing and it ran fine

Yeah the longlife thing will be a look like cat, cant fault MIJ exhausts, the eibachs if they are pro springs will be a 35mm drop, get some pics up of your car....
