DCi lumpy idle

another question about the new purchase....

The idle is lumpy and rocks the car slightly.

Acceleration is fine, no hesitation and cruising is fine, no missing or lumpy-ness.

Is this normal on these like it is on Skoda's 1.4 mpi engines?

Shouldn't be that bad once warmed up. Check your engine mounts for wear/damage. Can't remember, did you also manage to run the Forte cleaner?

It's the same cold or warm.

Will check the mounts.

I haven't got around to getting any Forte yet but It will be done soon.

Might make all the difference. Worth doing before working about it being something else.

Forte
Oil change
Clean EGR
Check MAF / loom
ECU / Fuel Pump Reset

First port of call for any problems.

I have the same rough idle problem when the car is cold once warmed up the idle still pulses a bit but is not as rough.
I have tried all the above and had it read at a nissan garage with no faults showing.
I'm convinced its air getting in the fuel system somewhere.
The other day I changed the fuel filter and bled the air etc. I also notice that several pipe clips were loose allowing the rubber fuel pipes to rotate on the metal fuel system pipes so I went right through the car checking and replacing as I went. This improved things for a while but now its back to rough idle again.
Has anyone got any idea where else air might be getting in, if thats the problem.
I had thought of the primer pump as once I primed the system it was rock hard as you expect but then after running it for a while the pump goes soft again and can be pumped.
Is this right or should the pump remain hard to press, anyone know ?

The fuel primers are prone to becoming faulty. Mine has trouble starting when parked on a slope for more than 12hrs, as the fuel has drained back to the tank. I tried a 'one way valve' pre filter which helped a fair bit. I'll be trying one post filter to see if this resolves the problem. I dont have any running issues though.
Running issues are usually the SCV, MAF or broken earth strap.

I have fixed my running problems, or seem to have. But the last couple of days I have been to the car after 5 or more hours standing and found it won't start unless I pump the primer untill it goes hard then it starts and runs fine.
I'll look at fitting a valve and see what happens
thanks.

I have exactly this problem with my tino dci. Did you ever sort it out . I had mine looked at by a friend who is a mechanic and said it was probably normal. But the whole car rocks on idle and idle varies between 500 to 1000 rpm. Can't see that that car be normal

Fitting a one way valve either side of the fuel filter mounting didn't help, but If i park nose down the drive i dont have an issue. It must be a dodgy primer pump.
