Theres hesitation when you change gears and in 2nd theres a dead spot upto 6000rpm..any one know why this might be???it hardly has anything to do with a triple plated clutch?

That car you bought is decated so you will feel a miss low down...as far as hesitation down when you change gears you probably need to be more agressive with your change..ive never driven a vzr with a triple plate so i dont know..my car is decated as well put some iridium plugs in last night and it has improved the miss down low...your first cam should activated at 5800 and the second at around 6500.
I would go back to the original air box as well if you still have it..the resonpse at low speeds and revs is definetly better..for me outweighs the couple of brake(if even) you'll get at high revs ..ive ran both on my car and find the original air box with a good panel filter like an apexi one better all round

Can you be more specific? Theres a dead spot up to 6000rpm?
Theres a hesitation when you change gears? At what revs?

this was happenin to me, check the spark plugs leads are all on the distributor properly, don't do it with the engine runnin though or you will get a shock (literally) if they are loose.

The last owner did it,it has a lovly feel to it.well worth it and a lovly tight gearbox

Ya upto 6000rpm in 2nd gear its a dead spot as in nothing like 1st and 3rd,there very good gears.(as in acceleration etc).

@Dagnut,putting the cat back in wont make any difference would it??

dont know there are differing opinions on this..i wouldnt put it back on..im know techincal expert but i think the car performes better without it...as far as the air box goes the guy dynoing our cars told me the original is better..
i know that car has a HKS induction on it proably the best you can get....try cleaning the foam or getting a replacement... new set of iridium sparks and a full oil change...you'd be surprised the differnce a nice clean drink makes....see how it feels then
..i change the oil every 3000 miles or so some say that excessive but i think its worth it

What car did you have before this one? They are fairly gutless unless you keep the revs high, sure they have fck all torque, they make all there power at high revs,id say your just not used to it!
Taking out the cat will loose you very small amount of torque but prob gain a small amount of hp,you know what they say,hp sells cars, torque wins races!
I have a de-cat,i think the car gained up high but lost down low,,,,,,at the end of the day if your driving fast your gonna have the revs up......jeez am i still talking?

it has 126.8 lbs of torque..

@Dagnut,Martin serviced it fully just befor ei bought it

HKS filter is crap unless housed with a true cold air feed.

Any filter that is exposed is not worth it IMHO.

Get a BMC Carbon unit with a good cold air feed.

Tried & tested and gives the best gains on the NA SR engines!
