Dizzy Rob - the saga continues

Ok so bought a distributor off ebay - listed as 7 pin 1.4 nissan almera 96-99 £30 n £10 postage, 3 mths warranty, i`ll have some of that and bought it straight away.

Upon arrival its seven pin but doesnt have a second connector and is a slightly different in shape with a different shape/size dizzy cap, wounded is an understatement as at the time there was another one going for a tenner more, now gone.

The guy i got it off accepts returns so cool, he informed me theres two types for a 1.4 anybody shed any light on this as the next time i want to get it right, any info greatly appreciated.

I know your all sick of this distributor posting, but no more than me, trust. sorry folks.

Cheers Hally, mines a 98 so that makes sense now, going to ring a couple of breakers yards in Peterborough and was hanging on until i found out exactly what was needed.
Worth knowing as i bet theres been a few people caught out by that.

Just checked the FSM and it was changed late on, 98/99 time.

You just need to compare a picture of it with the one on your car.
 
From what I've found is the two connector dizzy has a 6 pin and a 2 pin connector. The later single plug is 7 pin. Post a photo up?

Youre right cov its a 6 pin 2 pin dizzy, didnt realise that there was a blank pin on the wiring connector, used my common and counted em off the dizzy. Guess i`m narrowed down to a two yr window on finding one now late 98 - 00.
Much appreciated for the info, good to know what i`m looking for.

Need the two plug, luckily found one on ebay for £50 + £10 postage.
Had a mechanic mate come over for a look and he says dizzy, if not, knock sensor at fault for the no spark issue.
Got my fingers crossed as the cars recently had a new clutch and sills welded and is otherwise in great nick.
 
Missed out on the ebay dizzy by a day (payday), messaged seller to see if he has another or to message me if he gets one.
Has anybody on here got one for sale ? or there a section on the site to check/request ?

Ok sorry found the trade section on the forums, looking now.

Quick curiosity question, where is the coil on the n15 1.4, obviously only 4 ht leads going into the dizzy and this is a first for me no 5th for coil.
I`m guessing its inside the dizzy ? i`m going to change the coil whilst trying to source a dizzy so any info appreciated.
Gotta get this stuff learnt as i guess half of my questions make me sound like bit of a tard to you guys/gals who`ve been working on em for time lol.
Cheers Hally re coil, local parts supplier says he did have coil packs for my motor, i`ll leave it all alone and go for dizzy, less confusion for me lol.
 
As far as i'm aware you cant change the coil as it's an integrated unit. You may be able to dismantle it and clean it up though.
