£680 to change the cam chain. Including parts. This was before I found out they don't really need changing, which of course they didn't tell me...

i expected more tbh, although i was quoted £240 earlier today which seemed expensive to me, although i was expecting around £200. is there no adjustment left in it? mine was slipping badly, adjusted it and it seems to be ok again now but no idea how long it will last.

I have now phoned round three other places to get quotes. One wasnt interested, the other two are quoting around £400 inc parts and VAT! (praps I should try KwikShit  )

How long did it take you and what probs did you encounter?

I did the adjustment thing about 18 months ago and now its started slipping when I drive it enthusiastically ;) I will try adjusting it again before giving in to a new clutch.

I just need it to last for about 12 months then it should be time for the replacement engine to go in, which is the perfect time to pop in an uprated jobbie. . . .

Kelv's took 4 hours, mine took the best part of 2 days with most of it being done on the 2nd day. we had about 4-5 people working on it.
The biggest problem we had was that the thrust bearing, unbeknownst to us, had slipped off it's spline, so when everything was bolted back up and we tried the clutch there was a 'twang' sound and we had to take it all apart again.

Lesson learned: Once you have fitted clutch DO NOT go anywhere near the cable lever.

You need to remove the driveshafts out of the gearbox, so you need to drain it to avoid major spillage as mine pissed all over the driveway. after removing all the and unbolting the mounts (Remove the battery tray and airbox to be able to get to it) drop the gearbox to the floor and replace the clutch. Then bolt it all back together. It's hard work but saving £150 for me was a lifesaver.

it is a bastard to be honest, i paid 250 at a independant garage and it took him 4/5 hours. You basically have to dismantle both sides of the drive gear.

Yep my mechanic charged £150 to take my gearbox off......that was a going slow, checking everything, methodical job.

When I had to go to Nissan for the CV joint I didn't say anything apart from "CV Joint is broken, new one?"

He came back with a large wooden pole and told me to bend over

i got a good-un the other day....

2 of my rattle spring's on my rear caliper's had worn causing my pad's to slightly rattle...

you can only buy them in a set with the metal clip's that go on the back of the caliper etc, 8 wafter thin bit of metal, basically bit's of tin for.....

38.64 inluding VAT :| had to get them thou :( top on that the fact im having to pay 408 quid for a new windscreen and fitting = major lameness :(
