Door Question

Right, have been to a body repair centre today with the 1st step of bring the GTi back to glory (sorting rust on 3 of 4 arches and door and colour mismatches on skirt, door, front bumper and wing) the spray bod took a look at my door which i know is filled due to the poor finish and alighnmnet not to mention all the visable filler down the inner edge by the A pillar.

The spray bod has advised me to get the best reult I ideally need a new door and prefrablely in white (better to paint on)

Now is where i am unsure....my car is a 98 GTi so obviously 3 door but will std model 3 door doors fitted and will phase 1 fit as well as phase 2, also will the rub strip come off ok or does it deform when removing, cheers ppl, don,t wanna be getting a door then it not fit or look daft.

Mmmmm had a lot of looks at this thread (well 15 actually) but no replies, do I take it nobody knows or am I being shunned due to not attempting my body repairs myself, lol

Yes mate all the bodyshells are identical apart from niggly differences like strut brace holes etc. Tommo has a GTi door fitted to his Si, the only thing you will have to do is swap the wiring out of your old door as the central locking and sometimes the windows will not function properly on different looms.

most car panels are universal like tailgate's doors etc should be fine just swap all your wiring, trim groomet's etc.

Brilliant....cheers guys, transfering the components and electrics over ain,t a prob as thats normal stuff for me but when it comes to bodywork I just don,t bother as i,m crap, lol. Search for a door now then :)
