Driver seat problems!!

well.. was getting out of my car tonight, leaned back on the seat and wham, twatted myself.. the seat gave way and now, it wont sit up right when theirs pressure applied!! took out the plastic on the side of the seat but cant see anything, think the little links are gone on the inside of it from wear!!
i suppose theres two options, get a standard seat and put it in, or bucket seats.. what yous think?
need a few opinions on this please!!

1. can you buy that specific part of the seat and fit it to the current interior (its a vzr, so dont want to buy an almera seat and have the front two seats not matching interior) i mean, is it possible to just kinda switch the frame but hold on to the upholstery? any one got a price on a standard seat or know any scrappys in ireland with one?

2. was thinking of bucket/racing seats, but seen that a few of you lads have had problems making them fit.. if i was to fit these, any one recommend what make? i'll prob also need some help with fitting so i need runners/sliders aswell?! is that right? also are they hard to fit and will the seat be able to 'slide' gf drives the car now and again and our seating positions are totally different! any one able to give me a rough price on a bucket seat including the frames etc etc..

any help would be great! sorry bout the long post!
thanks in advance

cheers for that corbs.. but i kinda want to leave bucket seats as a back up, would rather get my seat fixed back to normal, i'm not mad into the idea of just having one bucket seat and the rest plain!!

im sure there must be a way of removing the fabric from the seat and putting it on another seat, most only slide over the seat and get clipped on or something like that

i was thinking the same, any one any ideas? i had a look though and there seems to be some kind of metal that goes right into the seat, i dont know the set up from there! any one shed some light on this !? PLEASE!!!

i think the back part is, but not sure, never tried removing them, as for the bottom, i think there is a chance that it might work, any one know if a primera seat would fit?

yeah, you should be able to take off both the top and bottom fabric.the bottom should be held on with little metal hoops.there is a special tool for these, but a pair of sidecutters and pliers do the same job.all you need now is another almera seat.you may even be able to use a lower model seat,as i think you can also swap the foam over.hope this helps!

Unless you have the special tool it's very tricky putting the cloth back on as you have to stretch it and crimp the hoops at the same time but it is doable!

nice one lads! just went up to a scrapy and got a seat from a 98 almera 2 door for 40 euros.. thought it was a bit high but its pissing rain and i dont want to bother going to another, have them in the car now and about to swap these bad boys over.. if i'm swapping the two parts (the back and the seat) do i swap just the fabric as in the cloth or do i swap the foam pieces aswell!? let me know as i'm doing it now!! cheers!

Shit!

well, just done the seat transplant and everything went smoothly... until, i went to fit the new seat into the car, theres 4 bolts holding the seat in place, but however, the lefthand side (as in the side nearest the centre of the car) wont bolt on properly, only one nut will line up! the rail is too long, for now, i have just bolted up the right hand side(side closest to the boot and petrol cap levers) and the front left hand side bolt, leaving the back left 'sitting' on the piece of metal where the bolt is ment to bolt on to, what you guys think? should i go and get a piece of metal welded onto it so it'll fit, or hunt for a pulsar seat? pain in the ass..

changing over the foam and seat and fabric and that is piss easy, cant beleive it went wrong at the last hurdle! SHIT!

any ideas what to do lads? any one know where i can pick up a pulsar seat in ireland? let me know what ya's think!

can you not drill a hole in the rail for the bolt?

cant, because, theirs a part that juts out from the 'rail' part that the bolts ment to fit in and its off by about 2-3 inchs... any other ideas?

dont mean to sound stoopid, which i probably will, but have you got both the runners in line?also, are you putting each bolt in loose, then tightening them up?if you put one in,then tighten, then the next, and tighten, and so on,they wont always lign up.

Get a piece of metal big enough to cover the hole in the floor and to reach under the bolt hole in the seat.Drill two holes so that it lines up with both holes.Bolt it to the floor then bolt the seat to it! This is a vry last ditch effort because if the car was ever in and accident you wpuldn't want the seat to come loose,if i were you id just get a pulsar seat!
