ECU (ECCS) fuse location and IACV problem ?

Hi there,

I have an early (2001) N16 1.8 E ( QG, Automatic, no aircon)

The problem is that the idle is far too high (about 1500rpm).

So to start with, I'm checking out the supply to the IACV - starting with the fuse, ECM relay, stepper motor, and then possibly the ECU itself.

Firstly, has anyone had a similar problem (which they solved !) ?
Also, can anyone tell me the location of the fuse in the supply to the IACV - it does not appear to be in the main fuse box (which only has an ECCS fuse apart from the individual electrics ones for accessories etc).

Thanks to anyone who can help.

This is a common problem in other areas of the world. I cant remember the cause but im sure its ECU related.

May not be exactly the same issue as yours but for what it's worth, I had a problem with ECU/IACV - I replaced the IACV, ECU and NATS gear and it was sorted. First symptom was a burning smell from the ECU area and when i removed it, it was clear something had fried. I read up on it and found that others had similar problems and that just replacing the ECU would result in it blowing again. The recommendation was to replace the IACV which was the cause of the ECU fry-up. Picked the IACV up from the bay and went to a local scrappy for the ECU and NATS stuff (and am grateful for Liam's help on this subject at the time).

Result is it is fine now however I don't have a radio as it is synch'd with the NATS and the one in the donor car was u/s. No problem for me as I rarely used it (and it's the wife's car!).
