Engine Swap...N16...???

This thread may seem pointless to some of you, but, if you had to swap the engine of a 1.5 N16, what would you install?

Was thinking how easy it would be, and how good a sleeper would that produce.
 
I think some fella on here tried that ages ago and had a real nightmare,but i think it was more down to the fellas doing it for him,,,,buy an n15,you got more choices that way!
 
Member N16_GTIR was putting a GTiR engine in his N16, but the company he used started fecking him around, & I believe legal proceedings are ongoing.
 
Now, that's a great idea.

Those things have pretty good guidance systems, you could just disable the warhead, program your house as the target, switch it on and sleep all the way home from work!

Granted it would cost 4 million quid per journey but it would make my neighbour's new satnav system look pretty crappy. Probably be going too fast for the speed cameras too!
 
LOl, joking apart, I was thinking about a tuned 1.8 engine, maybe 150bhp or so...would that be difficult/worthwhile?
 
do you mean the N16 1.8?

150bhp should be possible there 118bhp i think. Just wether or not theres many performance parts for that engine.

buy an n15 GTi, it would probably work out to be the same price as creating a mutant but be alot less hastle and more reliable
 
There were supercharger kits available from Germany for the N16 1.8's claiming 161hp output...

Don't know if they still do them in all honesty

Nice! How is the driving experience? What sort of power do you have? Donnut know much about that engine.
 
I think most people on here would recomend you getting an n15 gti, more knowledge on the site and certainly more modifications available.

The driving experience is awesome!Is like i have buy an other car.I dont know the power after the modifications.

a few simple mods and an N15 GTi will pump out that kind of power for less cash and hastle
