Hey guys needing some help.
Looking to do a engine swap at some point and thinking of upgrading to a 1.8 sport. Currently i have a 1.5 engine and was wondering how difficult or easy it is to swap the two engines over, is there any new bits i will need much as ecu/intake/throttle body or anything at all or is it a straight swap ?
 
They will be difficult because of the differences between phase 1 and phase 2 cars unless phase 2 1.5s didnt get electric throttle?
 
Yea my 1.5 has electric throttle, ill try find out if its a phase 2 engine. Ian there anyway of telling ?
 
Different intake manifold, throttle body, MAF and theres a few other sensors that are different so id imagine the engine looms will be diffetent and wont be interchangeable between different phase ECUs.
 
Yes aslong as you get a phase 2 1.8 engine, loom & ecu set and then any phase gearbox, rear bracket, drive shafts and selectors you'll be fine :)

I have a gearbox, rear bracket, selectors and 1 driveshaft available. Not looking for too much as i need to clear out some stuff.
 
Can i not use any of the parts from the 1.5 phase 2 ? And its not for Deff yet, just gettin any idea for what's involved. Depends what's wrong with the car on Wed when it goes in garage
