Evenin' all

Hello all,

I've just bought my first Almera, a 2004 2.2 DCi SE 136PS, one previous owner, 54K on the clock and a full service history :D

My last car was 1999 2.0 TDS P11E Primera with 150K on the clock, I'd had it for four and a half years and it was a great, reliable (if slow) workhorse. However it was on the cards to be replaced, as maintenance bills were getting larger and reliability poorer :(

Got my chance at this N16 and took it for £3500 with six months tax, nine months MOT , new tyres, new front discs and pads and a full service...............:D

Anyways............it had belonged to a farmer and was pretty manky, six hours cleaning later it looks a lot better, inside and out. It has a towbar but I'll try and remove that this weekend - weather and skill permitting.

So far, I'm impressed - it goes like stink :D:D:D

Fuel consumption is a steady 43mpg although I would like to improve this.

I'll stop now, before some of you fall asleep.

Looking forward to being on the forum - Andy

Welcome :)

Get some photos up :D

Nice price. I'd like to swap my 1.5 petrol N16 for a derv but I can't afford the insurance lol.

Welcome to the club Andy :). I've got a 136 diesel too and couldnt be happier.

There's a few bits of maintenance that could help with your MPG. 5w40 full synth oil, clean the EGR valve and intake manifold with EGR spray cleaner (I use Wynns EGR cleaner and it seems to be good stuff), and get a tuning box. I tried a DPT box and MPG went up by 5. There's also a fairly new one on the scene called DTE which plugs into the injectors so is a bit more advanced but seems to give great results on the Nissan Navara diesel and on the 1.9 cdti Astra.

Very good price I'd say especially with mot tax and new bits too!

Get some photos up in the members rides section so we can all see your hard work ;)

Enjoy the forums :)

Thanks for the welcome guys, it makes me feel all warm inside :D

No pics yet but hopefully this weekend will yield some results.

The car's nothing special to look at, silver with 16" alloys and a few marks/scrapes to the bodywork (which will be sorted in due course). Plans for a tailgate spoiler ( I think that it makes the N16 look a lot better), fog/spot lamps depending on price and availability and ...........I'd like to improve the standard audio if possible. A set of inexpensive component speakers for the front would be the way to go - I guess, unless you know better...............
Cheers - Andy

no probs, as for the wiring part, just tie it up behind the bumper, easier then stripping it all out

o i fit towbars for a living lol

Oooops, nearly forgot - I've got to replace these hideous carrots on the front wings, is there a recommended seller for either smoked or clear repeater lamps and which would look best on a silver car?

lol, carrots . nicedeals.co.uk do some. Try ebay too. I think smoked would look good on silver :).

Welcome Andy - lots of N16 owners been joining recently ! More info & other people's experiences will save you money :) Not to mention the club meets of course
