few questions bout modding a 1.4 action?

just a few q's if anyone cud help it wud be appreciated?

i am gettin a set of 17's probs TSW's or maybe Wolfrace and i just wanna know about the offset nd all that shit its a bit confusin plus will the tyres on 17's be low profile and how cheap cud i get the tyres if i just bought the wheels?

also.. lowering?? i dont really know much bout it but are their specific springs for the mera and will i just need the set of springs or the whole kit? been looking at apex suspension systems in moterworld..

also will a universal back box fit on the mera no problem?

offset doesn't matter that much, just keep yourself within the range 35-45, try keeping it around 40 and you'll have no troubles.

PCD is 4x100 with a 59.0 center bore.

they will be low profile.. ain't room for much else
go for 205-225 with a profile of around 35-45 depending on your mood and wishes.. most people go for 205-215 with a profile of 40.. 205x40 on 17" is less than 0,5% off in wheel dimension from the original size.
how cheap or expensive they are usually comes around to which people you know and so on

go for springs = cheap alternative but nonetheless good.
or go for coilovers = expensive alternative but nonetheless superior.
does the 1.4 have drum brakes on the rear? if they do you will need another set of rear springs than what is available for the cars with rear disc brakes.
other than that you should be able to get any springs for a 1.6.. some brands ought to have specs for the 1.4 also.

well i suppose, depending on how big it is and you'd have to weld the hooks suspension hooks to it (the metal rods that hang in the rubber thingies to support the back box... oh yeah i'm such a retard when it comes to mech-speak in english)

the 1.4 springs are same as 1.6 (and diesel i think) but make sure you get the right ones for your year as there is phase 1 & 2 differences
i've a 1.4 and 17s are bit slower of the line but the car will drive ok otherwise with them
ive a 30 mm offset with 205/40 tyres, 215's will will scrub a little on full lock but not that much!! you'll probably get a better selection of tyres with 215's tho
also any almera exhaust will fit yours ive the gti scorpion cat back system on mine universals sometime not great
