First Almera - Good Decision?

Hi,

I'm a newbie

Just bought my first Almera - 2001/51 1.8 Sport
47,000 miles FSH and fantastic condition

Seems a nice car - any comments please - love 'em or hate 'em?

thanks:lol

Come on the Almera Owners Club and ask if we love or hate them? LOL!

Welcome, I see you're from South Wales, whereabouts? I'm at uni in Cardiff you see.

The new ones are certainly growing on me thanks to Ed and the guy with the supercharger/turbo. I will say, they look wads better with some subtle mods to even out the bulky shape, check out Eds. The 1.8's nippy too, around 110bhp I think. I do feel you're going to get a bias answer on here though lol. Saying that, most of the people have n15's.

Welcome mate.

51 plate N16 with 47k?

I bought one last year, almost exactly same milage.
Just hope you didn't get ripped off by Arnold Clark like I did :)

Love mine anyway.

Get some pics up!

Ignore that last post - bloody Peugeots !!! :P

Welcome to the club Roger - I'll give you a biased opinion because I've got a 1.8 too, lol. I had no intention of buying an Almera at all until I saw it sitting on a forecourt last year. I thought 'Yep, I kinda like that & I'm sure it could be improved' & that's how it's turned out. Even if you keep it standard engine-wise, it's still a good car. :)

Any questions, just ask or hit the search button (becoming an AOC member pays for itself very quickly !).

spur of the moment purchase never even thought of an Almera before
Yeh a bit daft coming on the Almera site looking for some critics
I'm in Port Talbot, South Wales
All standard right now - great nick though - pictures soon
thanks for tall he responses

Welcome to the club. Got pics?

I've not forgotten my roots, I still like the look of a nice N16.

It's all about the handling man. These things will out handle ANYTHING when properly sorted.

Good point that, nothing better than getting to a tight corner and overtaking the Vectra VXR that roared past you on the straight.

Of course if you're feeling generous you can always stop a little down the road and help tow him out of the ditch :)

HELP!!

Still enjoying my Almera - I seem to be having a problem either with the rear wheel bearing or brakes. Terrible noise and sometinmes it feels as though it's binding with excess heat from the wheel hub etc.

I've read somewhere that there is a common problem with the rear brakes and bearings - can anyone help and/or direct me to the appropriate part of the site where this topic is discussed.

Oh and it's definately about the handling - it goes exactly where you point it!!!!

cheers:)
