First post regarding throaty exhaust after oil change.

Would like to say a big Hello from Stoke to everyone in the club,I've looked but couldn't find answer anywhere, would appreciate any responses. I own a 93 Tino se petrol 75K on the clock, and 2 days ago did an oil and filter change and since then the exhaust sounds if it's blowing when I blip the peddle, even took it to ATS convinced it was blowing but to my amazement they said it was completely intact. It had been very quiet till the change, even the missus says it doesn't sound right. I used the correct oil, 5W30 semi synth as per handbook, registration check also came up with this oil. I did use Halfords oil, but as I intend changing the oil every 6 months didn't want to spend too much, have usually had it done at my local garage but trying to cut back. Just wondering should I drain this out and try something else?If anybody has any suggestions would be extremely grateful, regards to all StokieStef.

Oil cap still on?
Yes it is thanks. Double checked it and no oil leaks anywhere. It occurred to me during the night that after the oil change I took it for a short run and filled up with fuel after running the fuel tank much lower than I normally do,now wondering if I've picked up crap in the fuel filter, will see if I can get it changed before Saturday as we've got a 200 mile holiday run coming up. This would seem a more likely reason I think. Thanks again.

Thanks to you all for your replies. It would seem to rule the filter out, cheers. I jacked it up from the the off side side jacking point and then rested it on an axle stand on the round jacking point off side again, underneath the car. It didn't sit too squarely on the axle stand and have felt around behind it incase it had bent the metal but nothing seems amiss there. Excuse my ignorance but if an undertray is a plastic engine guard then no I don't have one.

A big thank you to all that replied. I've just managed to get under the car again and contrary to the advice I took from the 'pros' at ATS it would appear that I DO have an exhaust leak. Ran my hand all over it and bingo found it. Thanks for taking the time to reply, StokieStef.

Think you're right rowdy-GTi, they were a bit busy when I wandered in,usually very good, wished they'd been straight though, picked at the rust and ended up with 2 holes Doh! Bandaged up 'til I get to Devonia, cheers again.
