what exactly do you mean by supressor? are you talking about ice or wot. you need to be more specific. i assume by it being a supressor it involves the supression of electrical current

Sounds like you need a ground loop isolater mate.

It connects in between your RCA leads and your amp and hould cut out any engine interference.

ah, in that case i dont need a supressor, woz told i needed 1, i need the groung loop thing me thinks, where wud i get 1 ov those things, the supressor is for the alternator, or so i was told, itsa a little black box with 1 loop style contact and a thin yellow wire coning out ov it.
many thanks

You can get them out Maplins for under a tenner i think.

Any decent audio shop will be able to supply them. From audio shops you are looking at higher prices, £30/£40.

my personal experience with one of these (so not necessarily means its gospel, just my own experience) is......on my car pc i needed something to stop the pop sounds that would be produced over the speakers when the pc started up and turned off. The insulator got rid of these completely.......but it then picked up the noise from the exhaust which was on all the time. I couldnt honostly say if the sound quality was degraded though as you could hear the zorst over the top, so if it wasnt there I couldnt say if it was any worse or not. So in the end i just removed it and just put up with the pop from the pc on startup and power off.

yes, there is a slight quality reduction, as the ground loop isolators cut out certain frequencies so you don't hear the interferance, but for most systems the drop is almost un-noticable
