fitting extended wheel studs

So I fitted some 25mm extended wheel studs to my saloon tonight, I bought them ages ago from ebay, they're actually for a WRX impreza same pitch thread and everything.. :D

wheels before :- 205/40/17

stripped down to the hub just need to undo the 2 17mm bolts at the back and pull the whole caliper and carrier off in one..

you can see there is a gap the studs will squeeze by, all you have to do is hammer the old ones out with a small adjuster...

old vs. new

you need to wind the new studs in there a press fit.. I slid a big socket over the whole thread, then used an open ended nut i went through 2 to pull the studs on.. I used the big bar to hold the whole bearing assembly still..

all done :D

thats with 20mm spacers on there..

a lot better :D

excellent write up dude!

the small splines that hold the studs in place, are they exactly the same then?

Also where are the spacers from?

yeah the studs are the same there was a thread about them on the SR20 fourm as to where to get them from.

the spacers are just slip on ones from demontweeks..

nice one ian , whats the offset of your wheels? as mine look pretty much the same but i have only got 15mm spacers

have you got an above pic,

good job :D

the reasson for them is so i can put the 245 section tyres i have on the front ill be putting them on with 10mm spacers then ill put these wheels on the back with 20mm spacers to fill the backs out abit.. and stop the car rubbing on hard bends..

i can get a pic from above what kind of angle?

ah... although you have 25mm longer studs your only using a 10mm spacer?

angle... straight from abovelooking directly down :D

what method are you going too use for the rear?
as im looking to space out my rears by about 10mm...
cheers ian

mongo i carnt mate i baught them nearly a year ago i saw a thread on SR20-forum about extended studs had all the information on it..

stu iv got 20mm ones on there at the moment with the 205 tyres on the front i want the 245 tyres on the front though so will only need 10mm spacers just to clear the suspentionthen i can put the 20's on the back with the 205 tyres..

I was at the scrap yard and there was a N16 hub on the floor and had a look and I think the studs are different. may be not but just a note just incase any of the N16 guys want to change the stud's

I need these mods in my life! Even with my 215's on the front the offset looks rubbish and even worse on the back. The fronts rub very slightly on hard corners or when going over bumps on lock.
