I think he/she means that the lights come on momentarily when you lock/unlock the car. They're kinda the standard on modern cars these days.
For an N16 it'd be relatively easy as all you'd need to do is run a source to the interior courtesy light. For an N15 it'd be a PITA although not impossible, especially if your aftermarket alarm system has the option.

You cant just run a feed from the courtesy light Mike, as everytime you have the lights on to drive it would back feed the circuit and the courtesy light would come on.
You'd need to use some diodes to ensure the current doesnt feed back or install a relay to control it.

I didn't elaborate but in essence, what you said was what I was on about as obviously a direct link to the interior light is stupid.
