Found an unplugged seatbelt wire, advice please.

Hey guys,

Need some quick advice if possible, I`ve just taken the N/S/R doorcard off to try & push out a tiny dent under the window & found this.

My question is, what does it do (I`m guessing it`s airbag related), so, can I just plug it back in, without having to disconnect the battery?

Also, if it is airbag related, why isn`t my airbag light lit?

Gonna take the other one off now, to see if that`s the same.

Any info greatly appreciated guys. :)

is there anywhere to plug it in?

you might find that it could be for different countrys as they might have something else there,

my almera had plenty of unused plugs, and the primera has got even more despite having everything available in this country. . .

wouldnt worry about it, could end up causing more harm than good plugging it in, my money is on it not being meant to be plugged in anyway like alot of plugs on nissans.

Yeah, it plugs into the little white block on the top left.

Just had the other card off, & that ones plugged in.

It looks like a seat belt tensioner connector. If you have a bad crash they go off locking the seat belt in place using an explosive charge. They go off when the airbag is activated.
For this not to be connected is quite a serious defect if it's come all the way through the factory and not been spotted.

That`s what I was thinking, but was/am confused as to why, if it`s part of the airbag system, my airbag light isn`t lit?

I`ve left it unplugged for now, & put the cards back on`til I find out exactly what it is, as like Jimmy says, it could cause problems if I plug it in.

And I want as few problems as possible, this close to JAE! ;)

Cheers forthe input so far guys.

I'd have thought the airbag light only comes on when there's a problem with the actual airbag. I'd just plug it back in with the battery disconnected

something to do with when kelv fitted the bucket seats maybe?, if you do decide to plug it in I would disconnect the battery well before like.....

Test the plug with a tester or a bulb. I'd put money on that there's no power to the tensioner. If there's no power to it it's safe to plug in.
