Sigh everyones worst nightmare,

lifted the rear seat and saw rusty water trails over the sealant, so pealed it away and found rust coming up between the panels :(

Ive plastered the underside of the car with underseal now and also did the inside of the car, gonna get quotes for having that done, scary thing is its very close to the rear seat belt mounts.

Then as I was curious stuck my camera down the side panel and photographed in the bottom of the sill,

Looks to be surface rust but how the hell would I fix that?

not much you can do but fill it with cavity wax and hope for the best. it will fail and MOT eventually if the seat belt anchorage is corroded, but it doesnt look that bad atm

When I got under the car to work out where it was coming from, there was absolutly no proctection what so ever under there just bare metal edges exposed to everything, which has allowed the rust to creep up inside the car.

primeras are terrible for rust aswell, seem to rust in stupid places and half the time without getting under the car and poking around you wouldnt notice at all, just seems to be what nissans do at a certain age :( suprised my almera hasnt started yet, im sure it must have been garaged alot before i bought it.

best thing to use is cavity wax, ive been using dinitrol because waxoyl seems to get mixed reviews from people, without cutting the car in half and checking on the progress i cant see how you could be sure though, bilt hammer do one thats well recommened aswell iirc. non of its particularly cheap though, i hate using it sparingly so seem to just coat everything i possibly can do with the stuff, then you seem to get through cans in no time at all but with any luck it will be worth it in a few years time, bloody cars still a money pit though
